Andreas Kreuzhuber

Principal horn

Andreas Kreuzhuber was born in Upper Austria and began playing the horn aged seven, at music school. Still at school, he was admitted into the general programme for gifted pupils at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, under Robert Schnepps.

Since graduating from secondary school in 2016, he has majored in the horn under Prof. Raimund Zell and Christian Pöttinger at the same institution. Andreas Kreuzhuber won several prizes at national and international competitions, including four first prizes as soloist and chamber musician in Austria’s national Prima la musica Competition, and was also prize-winner in the Lions Club Competition and Intermusica International Soloists’ Competition.

Andreas Kreuzhuber gained his first orchestral experience in the Upper Austria Youth Symphony Orchestra and European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO). He assists in the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and Linz Bruckner Orchestra, joining the latter in 2015 on a substitute contract.

Recently he was on temporary contract as solo horn in the Munich Radio Orchestra. He has been solo horn in the Bamberg Symphony since the start of the 2018/2019 season.
