Eduard Resatsch

Eduard Resatsch studied in his home city of Lviv (Ukraine) with Eugen Spitzer, graduating with distinction. While still a student, he gave concerts in Germany, Austria and Poland as a soloist and chamber musician.

In 1992 he was a prize-winner in Kiev’s International Lysenko Competition. From 1996, he pursued further studies at the Berlin’s University of the Arts, with the renowned Professor Eberhard Finke (first solo cello of the Berliner Philharmoniker), during which time he also played in various orchestras, including the Bamberg Symphony and Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. This period was also marked by numerous chamber music projects and radio and CD recordings.

In 2017, a work by Eduard Resatsch (‘Ratze-Fatze-Rüdiger: A Little Rat with a Whistle’, performed by Trio Colorit and issued on CD) was awarded the Leopold Media Prize. Eduard Resatsch currently has a commission from the Berlin Konzerthaus to compose a new piece for children, to be premiered during the 2018/2019 season in its series »Klangküken«.

His orchestral piece "Reflections of Hope" (digital project by the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra) won 1st prize in the "Bamberg Film Festival 2021" competition. This was followed by numerous commissions from the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Spring Music Festival and others.

In 2022, Eduard Resatsch composed the work "UKRAINE - den Opfern des Krieges", initiated by the German Music and Orchestra Association "unisono", as an act of solidarity. This work was performed by more than 30 orchestras in Germany and abroad.

His orchestral arrangement of Valentin Silvestrov's choral work "Prayer for Ukraine" has been performed in many parts of the world (including: the New York Philharmonic, the BBC London Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Paris, Pittsburgh Symphony, Seattle Symphony, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra (New Zealand), Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orchest, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and many others).

In December 2023, his commissioned work for soprano and orchestra "Up in flames" (premiered on 28 May 2023 at the "Prague Spring" music festival) was published by SCHOTT MUSIC.
