Julia Bubenzer

The violinist Julia Bubenzer (née Knapp) was born into a family of musicians in Frankfurt am Main.

At the age of 14, she was accepted as a junior student at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main in the class of Prof. Priya Mitchell. She completed her Master's degree with Prof. Mi-kyung Lee at the University of Music and Theatre in Munich. She received further musical inspiration through with Leonidas Kavakos, Prof. Ulf Wallin, Prof. Friedemann Berger and Prof. Wen-Sinn Yang.

Julia Bubenzer was a member of the Bundesjugendorchester, in which she held the position of concertmaster for several years. Subsequently she was also a member of the European Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra founded by Claudio Abbado.

Parallel to her studies, Julia Bubenzer was awarded a scholarship from 2017 to 2019 in the
Orchestra Academy of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. After her time as an academy student, she had a temporary contract for three years in the group of the 1st violins of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
As a soloist with orchestra, as a chamber musician, as well as in the orchestra she has already toured
Europe, Asia, South America and the African continent. She has played under renowned conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Bernard Haitink, Herbert Blomstedt, Zubin Mehta, Sir Simon Rattle and many others.

Julia Bubenzer has been a member of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra since September 2022.
