After studying with Prof. Michael Martin Kofler at the Salzburg Mozarteum, Ulrich Biersack became solo flute of the Frankfurt (Oder) Brandenburg State Orchestra in 1993. In 1995 he moved to the Munich Philharmonic, where he held the position of solo piccolo.
Later engagements took him to the Berliner Philharmoniker under Sir Simon Rattle, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Mariss Jansons and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under Daniel Harding, for example.
From 2003 to 2007, Ulrich Biersack was a member of Claudio Abbado’s newly founded Lucerne Festival Orchestra. Since the 2008/2009 season he has been the Bamberg Symphony’s solo flute.
