Volker Hensiek

Volker Hensiek was a multiple prize-winner in the national Jugend musiziert competition.

From 1984 to 1985, he performed his military service in the Third Army Musical Corps in Lüneburg. From 1985 to 1987 he was trombonist, and from 1988 to 1994 bass and contrabass trombonist, at the Stuttgart State Theatre.

He is a sought-after guest lecturer, leading courses at the Tokyo Academy of Music, among others. From 2002 to 2009 he held a teaching post at Munich’s University of Music and Theatre. Volker Hensiek is a member of the Munich Trombone Quartet. In 2001 he was invited to Japan, to join the Super World Orchestra under Lorin Maazel. He has been bass and contrabass trombonist of the Bamberg Symphony since 1994.
