Anniversary concert: 25 years concert hall Bamberg

Bamberg, Konzerthalle, Joseph-Keilberth-Saal
15:00 Uhr

»Any survey of music in Bavaria should start with the Bamberg Symphonic – because the orchestra is a success that makes Bavaria the envy of the musical world.« Thus the Süddeutsche Zeitung in February 2015. The article continued: »But this is not the only thing that makes Bamberg special. If Bamberg’s citizens were malicious, the debate on Munich’s concert halls might amuse them. You’re searching for a medium-sized concert hall, if possible with an impressive exterior and situated in a spectacular location, where you can hear Mahler symphonies in a quality that befits a decent concert venue? Yes, there is such a concert hall in Bavaria: it’s in Bamberg.« And this hall, the Joseph Keilberth Hall in Bamberg’s Konzerthalle, is now 25 years old. Surely that’s a cause for celebration! We will be marking this anniversary with a varied surprise programme: besides the Bamberg Symphonic under principal conductor Jakub Hrůša, performers will include the Symphonic Youth Orchestra Bamberg (directed by Martin Erzfeld), the Collegium Musicum Bamberg (directed by Gunther Pohl) and the BlueTrainOrchestra (directed by Sebastian Strempel). Ambitious local amateur musicians will also be given the opportunity to take part in this anniversary programme together with our orchestra. More detailed information on the programme will be published closer to the time in the local media. This will be a concert to look forward to!
