Daniela Koch

Principal flute

Daniela Koch began her studies aged 16 under Prof. Michael Martin Kofler at the Salzburg Mozarteum. Thanks also to numerous competition successes, she was soon able to make a name for herself in the music world. For example, as the then youngest participant in the Seventh Kobe International Flute Competition in 2009, she won first prize. In 2010, as the youngest finalist in the 59th International ARD Music Competition in Munich, she won second prize plus a special prize.

She was selected by Vienna’s Konzerthaus and Musikverein as a ‘Rising Star’ of the European Concert Hall Organization. As part of this initiative Daniela Koch gave recitals in Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, Cologne, Hamburg and Vienna. Other concerts took her to Canada, the USA and Japan. She performed as a soloist with the Vienna Symphony, Munich Radio Orchestra, Munich and Vienna Chamber Orchestras, European Union Chamber Orchestra and Berlin Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester.

Her debut CD ‘My Magic Flute’, issued on the Gramola label, received rave reviews in prestigious classical magazines. She was invited by Daniel Hope to join him on his Deutsche Grammophon CD ‘Music from Sanssouci’, contributing a flute concerto by Johann Joachim Quantz, among other works. Daniela Koch has been solo flute in the Bamberg Symphony since 2011.
