David Marquard

David Marquard was born into a musical family in Heidelberg in 1998 and began receiving violin lessons at an early age. At the age of 15, he was admitted to the Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin as a pre-college student and is currently studying for his Master’s degree there in the class of Prof. Ulf Wallin. He gained further experience through various masterclasses with renowned violinists such as Ana Chumachenco and Boris Kucharsky, as well as with Prof. Angelika Merkle, the Fauré Quartet and Prof. Eberhard Feltz. Through numerous concert engagements, he has established himself on major concert stages and has performed at venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, the Musikverein in Vienna and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. He performs both in Germany and internationally and has appeared at festivals including the Rheingau Music Festival, the MuseumsSalon Frankfurt, the Festwoche Alpenklassik and the Musikforum Gendarmenmarkt.

He has won prizes at various competitions and has performed with orchestras including the Kurpfalzphilharmonie Heidelberg and the Usinger Chamber Orchestra. He has also received scholarships from the Hans und Stefan Bernbeck Foundation, the Sparkassen Kulturstiftung, the Odenwald Foundation, the Deutschlandstipendium and the SINFONIMA Foundation. He was a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin and, since 2026, has been a permanent member of the First Violins section of the Bamberger Symphoniker.

David Marquard is a passionate chamber musician and regularly performs internationally with the Arcon Trio, which he co-founded in 2012. With the trio, he has won prizes at competitions including the International Johannes Brahms Competition and the Chamber Music Competition of the Polytechnische Gesellschaft. He can also be heard performing with various other ensembles. With the aim of strengthening the cultural scene beyond Germany’s major cities, he regularly organises and presents concerts in his home region of the Odenwald.
