Günther Forstmaier

Günther Forstmaier was born in Immenstadt and studied at the Universities of Music in Freiburg and Hanover with Prof. Dieter Klöcker and Prof. Hans Deinzer. He was a prize-winner in the Bonn German Music Competition and Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition. After two years as principal clarinettist with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra Vienna, he served as principal clarinettist with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra from 1994 to 2026. He has been a clarinettist with the orchestra ever since.
