Guilherme Nardelli Monegatto
Guilherme Nardelli Monegatto, born in São Bernardo do Campo (Brazil), won third prize at the 19th Sphinx Competition and the Aldo Parisot Prize at the Yale School of Music.
With a great passion for chamber music, he has performed at festivals such as the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, the Kallos Chamber Music Series and the chamber concerts at Kloster Banz. He has performed with artists such as Miriam Fried, Ida Kavafian, Alex Kerr, Jorja Fleezanis and Steven Tenenbom. He received important impulses through coaching with the Orion Quartet, Pacifica Quartet, Menahem Pressler and the Brentano Quartet.
His studies took him to Indiana University, The Juilliard School and Yale University, supplemented by master classes with Frans Helmerson, Laurence Lesser and Janos Starker. During his time at Yale University, he co-founded the Eli Trio and the Statera Quartet. With the Eli Trio he won the Yale Chamber Music Competition and made his debut at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. He has performed at Carnegie Hall with the Statera Quartet and Benjamin Verdery.
As principal cellist of the Verbier Festival Orchestra and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, Guilherme has performed under renowned conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Sir Simon Rattle and Antonio Pappano. His participation in the Verbier Festival also took him to the Budapest Festival Orchestra, where he played as an academist under Iván Fischer. He has also often performed with the Munich Chamber Orchestra.
Guilherme has been a member of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra since 2021, where he has been a permanent member of the ensemble since 2023. Besides music, he is passionate about coffee and chess.
