Melina Kim-Guez

Section leader, 2nd Violins

Melina Kim-Guez was born in Stuttgart and had her first violin lessons aged seven with Prof. Hedwig Pahl. She studied with Prof. Nora Chastain at the Lübeck Academy of Music, and with Prof. David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. While still a student she was Deputy Concertmaster of the European Union Youth Orchestra and Hanseatic City of Lübeck Philharmonic.

Melina Kim-Guez collaborated with such renowned conductors as Bernard Haitink, Herbert Blomstedt, Christoph Eschenbach and Sir Colin Davis. As a soloist and chamber musician, she took part in many radio and television recordings and won numerous awards and scholarships, including the London Chartered Surveyors’ Prize and a German Academic Exchange Service scholarship. She obtained her first post with the Bamberg Symphony in 2003, and has been section leader in the second violins since 2005.
