Guest in Bad Kissingen with our honorary conductor Manfred Honeck

Bad Kissingen, Regentenbau
19:30 Uhr

We have once again been invited to the Kissinger Sommer in summer 2025, where we already feel like a ‘regular guest’. With our honorary conductor Manfred Honeck, we will perform a highly romantic programme in the Prinzregentenbau, an architectural masterpiece: France, Austria and Germany meet in Bad Kissingen. After opening with Fauré's dreamy Pavane, which the composer himself considered a minor work - but the short piece ultimately made him world-famous. We then turn our attention to Franz Schubert's ‘Unfinished’, Symphony No. 7 - Schubert considered it to be so complete while he was working on it that he wanted to dedicate it to the Musikverein in Graz. And indeed, the symphony is so complete in its two movements that it exists as a work in its own right. The second part of the concert takes us to sunny climes when we travel into the mountains, so to speak, with Brahms' Second. This friendly and cheerful work accompanied the composer on a trip to the Alps, where he picked up a theme that he gave to Clara Schumann as a greeting. The summer couldn't get off to a better start!
