Herbert Blomstedt conducts Bruckner

Bamberg, Kaiserdom
20:00 Uhr

To mark the 90th birthday of our Honorary Conductor Herbert Blomstedt (watch our birthday serenade here), we visit four cathedrals to present a work in which generous reverberation is part and parcel of the composition: Anton Bruckner’s Fifth Symphony. Our tour begins in Bamberg’s thousand-year old imperial cathedral and includes concerts at Würzburg’s Mozart Festival, at the European Music Weeks in Passau and, as part of the »Upper Austrian Monastery Concerts« Festival, in the monastic basilica of St. Florian near Linz, in which Bruckner lies buried. The composer will certainly appreciate the performance of this Symphony at this venue, conducted by a proven Bruckner expert like Herbert Blomstedt.
