»RETROTOPIA« - Students concert with Martin Fröst

Bamberg, Konzerthalle, Joseph-Keilberth-Saal
19:00 Uhr

»Much like the bards and troubadours of the past, who travelled far and wide with their stories and songs, Fröst embarks on a musical journey of discovery through different countries and eras.« Exploring new paths, connecting contrasting musical worlds in doing so – this is the aim of clarinettist and conductor Martin Fröst’s internationally celebrated programmes, in which disparate pieces are linked thematically. His new project »RETROTOPIA« expands his repertoire once again. Here, the proven and traditional encounters the contemporary; classical music meets technology. Together with our orchestra, Martin Fröst will first present Mozart’s ever-popular overture to his opera »Le nozze di Figaro« and Beethoven’s pleasant Fourth Symphony, which the composer wrote when in love. The emotional piece »Emerge« by the Swede Jesper Nordin is written for a revolutionary instrument – the wondrous and computer-operated »Gestrument«. The programme will also include »Nomadia«, a composition that Martin Fröst wrote together with his younger brother Göran, exploring the acoustic possibilities of the clarinet. Its title also suggests a nomadic life – a perfect fit for this year’s featured artist, an international star who travels the world. Accordingly, the concert is guaranteed to be an exciting musical journey – an evening full of stories and new discoveries!
