VR Bank Bamberg-Forchheim OPEN AIR
Forchheim, Schloss Jägersburg
18:00 Uhr
At our guest performance at the VR Bank Bamberg-Forchheim OPEN AIR at Schloss Jägersburg, we present a programme of highly spirited and vibrant works under the direction of Dinis Sousa and featuring violinist Tianwa Yang. The evening opens with the effervescent Overture to Le nozze di Figaro – an embodiment of Mozart’s unmistakable vitality, whose rapid-fire precision and sparkling wit lead straight into the bustling world of his opera. At the centre of the programme stands Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, written in 1806 during a true creative surge in a particularly happy phase of his romantic life. The work captivates with its broad, flowing melodies, the delicately nuanced poetry of the Adagio, and the earthy exuberance of the finale – a piece in which Tianwa Yang’s expressive depth and stylistic clarity shine with special brilliance. When Mozart himself took up the violin, contemporaries reported that audiences had “a thousand delights,” for he seemed to dance as he played, appearing to them as “a cheerful, high-spirited, somewhat mischievous man.” This character left traces in many of his compositions – including his D-major Symphony KV 504, which he carried with him on his journey to Prague in 1787. Full of vivid contrasts and an impassioned operatic character, the symphony exudes an immediacy that continues to enchant. Mozart clearly took to heart a piece of advice once given by his father: “Do not forget what is called the popular element, which also tickles the long ears.”
